Candidate Boot Camp

Candidate Boot Camp logo

Candidate Boot Camp logoI’m very proud to finally realize a six-year vision to launch an online training resource for political candidates who want to run for local office.

Candidate Boot Camp is a team of experienced campaign professionals with a goal to democratize democracy by lowering the barriers to running for political office. We offer online candidate training and free resources to people who want to serve their fellow citizens but don’t have the budget to hire professional campaign consultants and staff.

The training is entirely non-partisan. Our contributors have diverse ideologies and we believe that our political system is best served when as many citizens as possible are actively involved. The founding team is located in New Hampshire, where we know a thing or two about running for local office. There are 400 Representatives and 24 Senators, making NH the second largest legislature in the United States following the U.S. Congress. It is said that only the U.S. congress and the English and Indian Parliaments are larger.

Basic Training Course

This course is your virtual campaign expert. The Basic Training course includes over 2.5 hours of video instruction, plus 23 downloadable worksheets, checklists, ebooks, and sample scripts, spreadsheets, and calendars. The training modules include:

  • Orientation
  • Campaign Structure & Organization
  • Exploratory Phase
  • Pre-announcement
  • Announcement Day
  • Campaign Tactics
  • Growing Support

Liberty Digital Marketing

In September 2015, I returned to individual practice for digital marketing consulting. It was a great opportunity to re-brand Domesticating IT, which started out as a blog and grew into a consulting practice. This was something that evolved over time and, therefore, never enjoyed the forethought of a clear brand message and logo.

2015 Control System Integrators Digital Marketing Benchmark Report

With my background in industrial controls and leadership positions in the International Society of Automation (ISA), control system integrators are near and dear to my heart. I have lots of friends and colleagues who work in that industry. Over the past few years, I’ve conducted dozens of digital marketing assessments for control system integrators and other automation companies. I thought it would be interesting to conduct an industry-wide assessment and see how the industry as a whole is adapting to digital marketing trends.

We randomly selected 100 North American control system integrators and assessed their digital marketing effectiveness against 32 separate criteria. These criteria are divided into 5 categories:

  • Design & Usability: How well does the website welcome visitors and communicate the company’s unique value proposition?
  • Search Engine Marketing (SEM): Is the website optimized in order to receive organic search traffic and is paid search being leveraged?
  • Content Marketing: Is there content available on the website to attract visitors and generate links because it offers value to prospective leads?
  • Social Media: Does the website connect with multiple, active and engaged social media channels?
  • Marketing Funnel: Are there offers for visitors to enter the marketing funnel at every stage, not simply the bottom, sales stage?

2014 ISA Executive Summit

The 2014 ISA Executive Summit brought together society leaders for a planning session facilitated by Billy Bennett of Pyramid ODI. Over two days of discussion, brainstorming, and deliberation, the group established five strategic goals for ISA. As Vice President of Strategic Planning for ISA, my role will be to assist the development, communication, and implementation of these initiatives.

The following presentation chronicles the process and highlights the five goals:

Authentia

Domesticating IT Joins Authentia

Authentia builds top-line revenue ecosystems and has growing demand for the quality of social media marketing which Domesticating IT has demonstrated for several years.  “Moving the needle in organic revenue growth must now include a strategic inbound marketing component”, says Authentia’s CEO, Conrad Sanford, “We think Jon DiPietro, now heading this practice, with the thought leadership our clients demand.”

From Domesticating IT’s perspective, strong growth in 2013 brought the business to a crossroads. Either Jon was going to have to turn away business or else find a way to expand. It just so happened that the team at Authentia had the right skills and resources to make it happen. “It was getting harder and harder for me to squeeze in all of the things I wanted to do for my clients and that wasn’t acceptable to me. I’m very happy now that with these additional resources, I’ll be able to increase both the quality and quantity of services I can offer them.”

Under the terms of this agreement, Domesticating IT’s client base will benefit from Authentia’s team of web designers, graphic designers, copywriters and other skilled professionals. We look forward to welcoming past and present clients in addition to meeting new ones!

YouthBuild 2013 (U.S. Department of Labor) Presentation

The U.S. Department of Labor holds training events each year to help train its grantees in various skills. I’ve been invited to speak on social media on several occasions, including the YouthBuild 2013 event in Boston. I presented What is #CareerGravity; an introduction to the new landscape for job seeking and talent management. Just as social media has fundamentally changed online marketing, it has also transformed the job market. This presentation provides a high level overview of exactly what those transformations are and how job seekers can leverage them.

Jon DiPietro Joins Girard at Large Radio Program with “Web Savvy” Segment

Manchester, NH (PRWEB) January 30, 2013

Girard at LargeWhen it comes to raising kids, advancing a career or marketing a business, the World Wide Web and Social Media can be a great asset or a fatal flaw. Many parents are unaware that girls are twice as likely to be bullied on Facebook as boys. Job seekers should know that 89% of companies use social media to support their recruiting efforts. Many business owners don’t realize that Google makes more than 8,000 adjustments to its search algorithm every year. The web is a complex, fast moving machine and a firm grasp of how it works can prevent disaster and help you achieve your goals more quickly.

These are the topics of discussion that will be featured on the new Web Savvy segment to be featured every Thursday morning at 6:40AM on the Girard at Large program, which is broadcast on 90.7 FM WLMW in Manchester, NH. Jon DiPietro will demonstrate his knack for making technology accessible and understandable. Parents will learn how to keep their kids safe online. Job seekers will find out how to take advantage of social media to maximize their career development opportunities. And business owners will discover tips and tricks for finding more customers online.

Jon DiPietro is a Certified Inbound Marketing Professional and author of “Social Media for Engineers and Scientists.” He is the Founder and Principal of Domesticating IT, an inbound marketing blog and consultancy and co-founder ofCareerGravity.com, an educational website that teaches job seekers how to market themselves online.

“I’m really looking forward to joining Rich Girard every week and talking about Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and whatever the latest, greatest developments are on the web,” DiPietro said. “I think that that social media is often overhyped and frequently underestimated at the same time. I hope to separate fact from fiction and give people a better understanding of how to use these tools for their own benefit.”

Girard at Large host Rich Girard commented, “Jon’s personality comes right through the radio making him an interesting ‘listen.’ Even better, his genius on the subject is matched by his ability to make it simple for non-technical guys like me to get it and that’s very important in today’s day and age. Jon’s a great addition to our adorable little radio show and we’re proud to have him in the line up!”

Broadcast on WLMW 90.7 FM New Hampshire Family Radio, the Girard at Large show’s mission is simple; to connect local people, places and things. “News from our own backyard” is their motto. Led by Manchester native Richard H. Girard, a widely recognized and respected local public figure, Girard at Large is a unique program that not only discovers and uncovers what’s happening within the Greater Manchester area, but also gives its audience the opportunity to share what it knows.

The Girard at Large Radio Show can be streamed live from GirardAtLarge.com where show archives are also available.
